Love is lost upon death

The center had thinned
So, I am here, and
Across the uncanny, inadmissible street
There is a reality out there —
Where you chose to make
Your small ceremony
An inexpensive shame
On a slightly dented can.

It had nothing to do with me
So, I went for a walk
To let the ordinary world remind me
That I am completely over here
Where the only thing left
With a novel schedule is
A lopsided bouquet
And no one to correct it.

Yours was always too everywhere, in everything
Scampering with one leg facing wrongly
Drooling at billboards, making idols
Out of girls immune and unaffected.
Its time I boiled down,
Like a hostage negotiation.
You can look down affectionately at it,
And I will have forgotten it was ever mine.
